Dell Inspiron Duo laptop review

The Dell Inspiron Duo is an innovative netbook / tablet Computer hybrid having a display that revolves so it can be employed as both a conventional laptop computer or a convertible tablet.

We got to invest some hands-on time with the Dell Inspiron Duo, and here's our first-look evaluation.

Unlike the Dell Adamo, which beats the Apple MacBook Air within the slimline stakes, the Dell Inspiron Duo can be a hefty 1.54kg machine. The overall dimensions are shockingly big. In order to cram in the dual surround needed for that ten.1in display as well as the individual frame through which the display spins by way of 180 degrees. Dell has had to make the Inspiron Duo 24mm-thick. It's also 328mm vast and 235mm deep, with not much of that expanse usable.

The 'Flip' display screen of the convertible Dell Inspiron Duo makes it stand out from equally the tablet and laptop computer crowd. However, we located it relatively large and it is much chunkier compared to super-slim Dell Adamo design. Nor does it have the desirable style credentials that had us drooling above the Adamo.

Operating an Intel Atom N550, the Dell Inspiron Duo is actually a netbook inside a heavier-than-normal chassis. However, it's a battery existence of the mere 4 hours. Graphics are integrated on towards the chip, so whilst the 1366x768 resolution show is touted as High definition, playback is going to be nearly anything but.

The Dell Inspiron Duo runs Windows seven 32bit, has 2GB of RAM, 802.eleven b, g and n Wi-Fi as well as a 320GB difficult drive. A one.3Mp webcam, Bluetooth, 2W onboard speakers plus a pair of USB ports but no HDMI complete the hardware checklist. Costs start at ?¨º479 from Tesco and John Lewis.
